Netbook computers, being relatively new on the landscape, have additional labels applied to them for example mini notebooks or simply ultraportables. With the name notebook computer being synonymous with laptop.
Netbooks, are considered to be within the subnotebooks classification, that is a swiftly – updating type of smaller, lightweight, lower priced laptop computers that’s created for general computing and the use of web-based applications (they can hook up to the web wirelessly).
They’re offered more or less as supplementary devices whose function is to work along with a person’s regular computing resources. Further depictive references can include: small, light-weight, minimalist and cheap laptops; plus lesser, less expensive laptops.
Appearing in the second half of 2007 – as scaled-down notebook computers engineered for maximum efficiency as well as for low weight and in the same way low cost – netbooks opted against the cd/dvd disc drive, settled with more compact screens and similarly keyboards, and cut back on specification and processing capability.
During the intervening time, the netbook’s display sizes have had a variation ranging from a little less than 5 inches to a bit more than 10, and with their weight in the 1 kilogram (2. 2 pounds) range.
By the middle of 2009 netbook computers had become quite a bit more cost effective when compared with the usual notebooks, to the astonishing point of having even been provided as being a free incentive with the subscription to an Internet service plan by AT&T in Atlanta, Georgia
During the short time since their inception, netbooks have been growing in dimensions and capabilities, and in tandem netbooks are being made lighter and more and more small. In view of that, physical properties like their dimensions and how much they tip a scale won’t be what can be said to make them different.
The way it looks at this time, perhaps a Netbook-style computer is okay to be said to be a smallish, lower-powered notebook which also lacks an optical disc drive(cd/dvd player/recorder). Except that probably will not be for too long either, when you consider that optical disc drives are being built ever smaller and stand to soon easily fit into a netbook. In addition computers will have wireless connectivity so good that external media like dvd’s and blu- ray disks can easily be done without.
So, for now, a netbook computer might best be described as a smaller, low cost laptop sans an optical disc drive.
